Abstract

As a new type of carbon material, mesoporous carbon materials havepotential applications in fields of catalyst supports and supported noblemetal catalysts because of their high surface areas, uniform controllablenanopore size distributions and adjustable surface chemical properties. The introduction of metal ions in the framework of mesoporous carbonmaterials is one of the important approaches for its catalytic applications, therefore attracts intensive research attention. In this work, highly ordered Ru-OMC mesoporous material withruthenium nanoparticles semiembedded in mesoporous carbon wassynthesized via directly incorporate Ru metal atom into the framework ofmesoporous carbon material. The catalytic property of the Ru-OMCcatalyst for benzene hydrogenation was specially studied. Main points ofthis work are listed as follows:1. The Ru-OMC catalyst was situ-synthesized through a facile direct hard template method, and Ru/SBA-15, Ru/OMC and Ru/AC catalystswere prepared via the impregnation method. They were applied in theliquid catalytic hydrogenation of benzene. It was found that the Ru-OMCcatalyst exhibits remarkable catalytic activity and stability compared withother Ru catalysts. Under the same reaction conditions (Molar ratio ofbenzene over Ru is 10000:1, 110 oC and 4 MPa), the activity of Ru-OMCcatalyst is 35112 h-1, is about 13 and 29 times higher than that of Ru/OMCand Ru/AC. And the selectivty of cyclohexane is 100%. For the 4%Ru-OMC catalyst, the hardly loss in catalytic activity observed after 5 runsand low loss in catalytic activity observed after 9 runs demonstrated that itwas highly stable and reusable catalyst system.2. The Ru-OMC catalysts with different Ru contents were situsynthesizedthrough a facile soft template method, and applied in theliquid catalytic hydrogenation of aromatic nitro compounds andα,β-unsaturated aldehydes. It was found that the activities and stabilities ofRu-OMC catalysts were improved by reducing the content of Ru. The Rucatalyst with low content can exhibit high catalytic activity indicating itsdispersion is higher. The 0.8%Ru-OMC and 0.4%Ru-OMC catalystsdisplay high catalytic performance in hydrogenation of ochloronitrobenzene. The activity of 0.4%Ru-OMC catalyst is about 6 and4 times higher than that of 4%Ru-OMC and 2%Ru-OMC. The 0.4%Ru-OMC catalyst also shows high catalytic performance in cinnamaldehyde hydrogenation, and exhibits superior selectivity toward C=Ohydrogenation to CMO.In conclusion, the activities and stabilities of Ru-OMC catalysts situsynthesizedthrough facile template method are greatly improvedcompared with other Ru catalysts prepared via traditional methods. TheRu metal atom was directly incorporate into the framework ofmesoporous carbon material can improve dispersion, utilization of Rumetal, and stability of Ru nanoparticles, also can improve the thermalstability and anti-sintering of catalyst. It will show more importantapplications in catalysis.
