Cardanol sulfonate and saturated cardanol sulfonate were synthesized using candanol and saturated cardanol. Oleum was sulfonation, and dichloromethane was solvent. The products were characterized by IR and NMR. The surface tension, wetting ability, emulsifying ability, foam property, interfacial tension, displacement performance and salt resistance were characterized.The results showed that critical micelle concentration (cmc) of cardanol sulfonate and saturated cardanol sulfonate were 3.37g/L and 5.25g/L, surface tension (γcmc) at the cmc were 38.41mN/m and 36.15mN/m, respectively; the wetting contact angles showed that wetting ability of saturated cardanol sulfonate was better than that of cardanol sulfonate; the emulsification property of products to liquid paraffin was measured by water diversion method and result showed that emulsification property decreased with the increase of temperature; volume of foam and foam after five minutes were considered as a standard, results proved that foam property of cardanol sulfonate was better than that of saturated cardanol sulfonate, foam volume was nearly constant when maximum volume was reached; the evaluation of interfacial activity of products showed that value of cardanol sulfonate was 1.14×10-2mN/m, saturated cardanol sulfonate was 2.19×10-4mN/m when concentration of base was 1.2% and concentration of salt was 3.5%; the core experiment in laboratory demonstrates that the cardanol sulfonate flooding has enhanced by 11.47% more than that of water displacement, and saturated cardanol sulfonate flooding has enhanced by 18.12%.
