Abstract

With the development of the economy, more and more tunnels appear in various kinds of projects. In the past, shield technology was basically applied to construction of urban rail transport network. In recent years, circulating water extraction of electric power projects have also begun to use the shield tunnel. Compared with the subway tunnel, subsea water intake tunnel is filled with water during operation and higher requirements are necessary for waterproof and antisepsis. Considering that the traditional method is unable to consider the complex assembly of segments, a more precise design is needed. This article adopted a three-dimensional solid model to analyze the standard segment of a nuclear power station’s water intake tunnel which was staggered joint assembling per eight rings, using finite element method, fully considering the impact of a joint role on overall deformation. The main research jobs focusing on the water intake tunnel could be summarized as follows:1. Based on the calculation method of shield tunnel in the past, the three dimensional solid model is used to simulate the water intake tunnel under complex loading, and the detailed calculation results can be obtained which is hard to be realized by traditional methods.2. The force and deformation of tunnel joints are analyzed by local model. In the model, the segments, bolts, gaskets are all modeled by solid elements.3. Under regular loading, the force and deformation of water intake tunnel are calculated by simulation. The difference between construction and operating periods is analyzed, and the dangerous working conditions is determined.4. The seismic response of the tunnel is analyzed, using finite element model to calculated the deformation and force of soil, linings, and the bolts. Finally, the effect of different soils to the result is discussed.
