Abstract

Second Language Acquisition (referred to as the Second Language Acquisition), usually refers to any other language learning in the mother tongue acquisition. Second Language Acquisition, including a wide range of research topics, such as internal and external factors of second language acquisition research, learner differences research and multiple research perspective (such as sociology, psychology, applied linguistics, etc.). In all of the research topic, learner Differences play an increasingly important role in the field of research in second language acquisition. While there has been a major shift from \In order to adapt to this trend and improve the efficiency of learning in the classroom teaching, many teachers have begun to try to adapt to learners' individual differences in teaching methods. But most of these beneficial attempt based on intuition and experience of the teachers, the way of the same. Overall, the lack of a reliable theory to guide teachers in classroom education according to learners' individual differences to develop different educational methods to improve the quality of teaching. The main purpose of this study is to explore the personality traits, the relationship between learning strategies and language skills. The study reviews the research of the relationship between the theory of personality and learning strategies as well as their language skills, personality traits and learning strategies and try to the two learner differences factors by psychology's \integration, in order to explore the relationship between them with language skills. In this study, the Shanghai Foreign Studies University 171 juniors from three colleges in different professional investigation. Two weeks in the fall semester of 2009, using questionnaires to collect research data. Based on previous studies of theory and practice, this study selected the Big Five personality model created by Costa and McCrae NEO-PI-R scale and learning strategies are widely used in Oxford learning strategies questionnaire survey students personality and learning strategy use. The results TEM4 were used to assess the language ability of students. In order to explore the personality traits, the relationship between learning strategies and language skills, the study established a total of twenty-five hypotheses. Descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analysis were used to analyze the pairwise relations among variables. The intermediary variable analysis and structural equation method is used to validate the learning strategies as mediating variables between personality traits and language skills speculated. Studies show that there is a significant positive correlation between each variable. The specific conclusions are: (1) three personality dimensions (extraversion, openness to experience and conscientiousness) and learning strategies significantly positive correlation; (2) personality in two dimensions (extraversion and conscientiousness) and the presence of language ability was significantly positively correlated; (3) learning strategies and language skills there is a significant positive correlation; (4) learning strategies (cognitive strategies, metacognitive strategies and affective strategies) personality ( extraversion and conscientiousness) and mediating variables in the relationship between language ability.
