Abstract


As a language English no longer belongs to only one nation, but a multi-national, multi-cultural, multi-functional international language. With the enhancement of Chinese overall cooperation and exchange with other countries, more and more English expressions which with Chinese characteristics have gradually appeared in the newspapers and magazines. Although the long history of English use in China, the concept has still been an issue, which has been provided a foundation by the theorization of World English. The previous empirical research of China English are rare, which always focuses on the vocabulary, keywords and clusters. However, the features of China English are not limited to these aspects. We should also pay attention to the structure features of vocabulary, emotion and attitudes, which are used by Chinese people. Therefore, the major objectives of this research are to investigate: (1) What are the features of the key keywords in China English political news? (2) What are the features of these concgrams?Corpus has marked the important shift of language research and learning both in methodology and in ideology. The researchers have established many specialized corpora in terms of register and language variety to achieve their purposes. These corpora have provided the possibility for new perspectives. This research adopted the corpus-based approach. The main corpora used are CEC-CPNC (a sample corpus in China English Corpus which selected by the researcher) and BNC. The former is an observed corpus and the latter is the reference corpus. Firstly, the keywords analysis are presented, and the concgrams of the key keywords are generated by the software. Then we observed the collocation, colligation, semantic preference and semantic prosody of these concgrams. The research conclusions are as follows: 1)There are a large number of proper nouns about people, events, time and places. For instance, place names (China, Beijing, Taiwan, Shanghai), people names (Chinese, Wen, Yang, Hu), monetary unit (Yuan), the unit of quantity, numbers, names of national organizational structures (CPC, NPC). 2) The concgrams of these proper nouns are also about the names of places in China , the names of things and the statistical units. 3) In English political news there are a number of concgrams with fixed structure and specific meanings, which are nativized. The interpretation for the nativization of China English are: 1) There are a large amount of Chinese unique things in China politics(such as place names, people names, monetary unit, the unit of quantity, numbers, names of national organizational structures), these things need to expressed in specific words and expressions. 2) Chinese people have specific values, beliefs and ideology, therefore China English have the preference of nativization.With the development of China, China English is also growing, which is of great significance for English teaching. A full understanding and master of these concgrams is helpful for Chinese EFL learners to improve the fluency of English.
