Abstract


In recent years, there has been more attention on the mulit-religions belief in the religious studies of Ethnology and Anthropology.This paper’s fieldwork sites reb gong gser mo ljongs is a multi-religious region where institutional religion and folk belief coexist. In geography, it belongs to the transition zone of the Loess Plateau and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. In history, Tibetan, Chinese, Mongolian, Hui and other different ethnic groups have lived and multiplied in this region. In culture, it stands at the crossroads between Tibetan Buddhism Culture. Islamic Culture, Central Plains Confucian Culture and Northern Nomadic Culture, Therefore, reb gong gser mo ljongs becomes the ideal place to observe the religious diversity. Types and functions of different religions in the region is the main content in this paper.First of all, based on the bedding description of reb gong gser mo ljongs. the history and current situation about folk beliefs, Buddhism, Bon, Islam, Christianity are discussed in detail by the analysis of relevant information. Among them, Tibetan Buddhism having the largest share is the main religion of reb gong gser mo ljongs.Secondly, the religion of reb gong gser mo ljongs and construction of sacred space, national identity, the integration of local culture and the relationship of local social governance are discussed from the fourth chapter to the seventh chapter. These belong to the functional analysis of the religion. As a meaning system, the religion of reb gong gser mo ljongs not only constructs the sacred space of the region, but also symbolizes the space structure here. As a cultural form, it not only meets the spiritual needs of people, but also plays dominant influence in other local cultural forms. As a social organization, it not only has the positive function of maintaining social order, but also has the anti-function of affecting the social stability. Thus its function shows the characteristics of diversity and complexity and needs multidimensional and dynamic analysis from different aspects.Finally, this paper has a extensive discussion and summary about the religion of reb gong gser mo ljongs in the context of globalization. In the context of globalization, its function can be seen as interpretation of local knowledge. The complexity of this function is more prominent in contemporary social transformation process. Faced with the onslaught of modernization, different religions need to make some adjustments to meet the religious market in the competition. In addition, inter-religious dialogue of reb gong gser mo ljongs is the only way to maintain social stability and build a harmonious multi-ethnic social space. In this way, this paper docks with theoretical model of the major religions such as religious market theory and religious secularization and so on.
