Abstract

As an art style, animation develops from comic and still persists in to this day from the original cave paintings. It continues to enrich and improve in their endless of the historical development and reality building process. Japanese animated films with its distinctive ethnic characteristics, unique personality and exaggerated art style are forming to the scale and influence, which can compete with Disney animation in the development of animated film in the world. While Hayao Miyazaki’s animated films are unique by its deep humanity content and the ecological consciousness throughout, in full of sex and violence of the Japanese animation industry. Hayao Miyazaki’s animated films concern human nature, the environment, nature, the fate and so on, also concern about the ecological crisis of facing the world, and the plight which is result of modern living. Ecological awareness has permeated the series of his works.This paper analyzes the performance of ecological awareness. Basing on cultural traditions, the animation style of this popular culture, it embodies humanistic care with the help of modern technology, market and other means. The pursuit of human spirit salvation will be carried out in the end. Form all of these analyses, it gives reflection to Chinese animation which is the same of the east cultural circle.This paper includes three parts. They are introduction, the text (four chapters) and conclusion.The Introduction part explains the reason of selecting topic, illustrates the status of researching Miyazaki in domestic and foreign. It also introduces the purpose and innovation of this research. The first chapter introduces the works of Hayao Miyazaki and his animation. Combining with the animation industry’s emergence, it reveals the facing problems when animated film is as a popular cultural product. At the same time it highlights the lack of humanistic care for the mass culture products on the driving by the economic benefits. The second chapter analyzes the feature of art and ideological content in Hayao Miyazaki animation works. But the most critical success factors are implanted ecological concepts implantation. The third chapter is the core of the paper. First, from the two aspects of natural and social ecology, it reveals the predicament of modern man’s life. Following, the performance of eco-consciousness in Hayao Miyazaki’s animated films are specific analyzed and argued. The fourth chapter, the spirit of Hayao Miyazaki’s animation is discussed from the traditional culture, markets, modern technology, humanities and other aspects. And it has played the role of reference and inspiration for our animated films. The conclusion further expound on writing ideas of the full text. It deepens the purpose of this paper around the theme which the ecological consciousness are expressed in Hayao Miyazaki animation. It emphasizes that only replying on high-tech and market-based the cultural products focus on humanistic care, meet the spiritual needs of modern people. And it can win in the social and economic benefits.
