Abstract


Before the book of Three anthologies of South Fukien theatre and art song published in the Ming Dynasty (called Three anthologies of Ming for short)was found, the dramas of South Fukien were in the serious lack of materials. Nowadays, many people only know that the Ming’s dramas of South Fukien were very prosperity. However, modern people always couldn’t find enough historical materials to prove it. Although there have been a book The Tale of Litchi and Mirror, single evidence can’t be completely accepted. This problem wasn’t really got a wide range of solutions until the book Three anthologies of Ming’s found. There were a lot of dramas and lyrics recorded in the book, and people could find more than thirty plays from them. It can be said that Three anthologies of Ming reappeared the drama pomp of South Fukien in the Ming Dynasty, especially mid and late Ming.The founder of Three anthologies of Ming, Mr. Plet van der Loon fixed the book’s location at South Fukien, but it still needs to be considered. Actually, when we make an on-the-spot investigation of the book, we can find that the dramas of the book were Quanzhou’s dramas. They directly originated from Nanxi of Song and Yuan, and were extensively affected by Yiyang dramas of Ming. Their texts were not only having strong literary meaning, but also having rich vivid stage effects. The research of Three anthologies of Ming can not only find the early form of Liyuanxi and Nanyin, but also play an important role of ancient Chinese folk drama history’s research, and even can help to save Chinese existing rare district dramas.
