Abstract


Lord of the Flies published in the fifties of the twentieth century, which is a modern fable exploring human nature. Through the novel the author Golding shows us humanity mutation in specific conditions. Human nature is a huge potential, a variety of potential genes with changes in living conditions, or hidden or, if the evil in humanity emerges and grows up instead of the goodness and reason of humanity, it is going to be mutated inevitably, and by the consequences of humanity mutation is regret and bitter.How to reveal the theme of humanity contained in Golding’s novel? He mainly compiled fables and used symbolic techniques to explore humanity of interweaving nature and civilization. Everyone has the instinctive desire to want to live, it is human nature. In the living basis, wanting to live better and happier, this will have the possibility of damage to the interests of others, and will need the emergence of civilization to remedy it. However, in a civilized society, the rules and regulations of the binding is not a panacea, because of the outbreak of two world wars in a civilized environment. Therefore, by compiling fables Golding let a group of children live far from civilization to survive on a desert island and start their course. Children were still capable of peaceful coexistence at the beginning of the story into killing each other in the end. Then they got rid of the constraints of the rules of civilization and had become more savage, bloodthirsty. This caused the society of the desert island to turn into a slaughterhouse. Golding finally arranged for the children to leave the island and went back to the civilized world, let them realize hiding darkness of human nature and confess to humanity mutation.Golding is going to hope to obtain salvation by self-reflection in the human heart and establish the new value civilization through spiritual reflection. Development of civilization is not the external binding of civilization just relying on the system to regulate, but turn into a powerful inner soul of civilization. It is the embodiment of the modern spiritual civilization. Golding’s view of human nature reflects his reflection on the two world wars. While Golding has no doubt seen the existing problems deeply, he places the solution on the ethical field finally, which can not be achieved. However, Golding elaborating on the specific view of human nature——the potential factors of the human nature will change with the specific condition, to guide our profound knowledge of human nature has a huge significance.Humanity really need supervision and guidance of civilization, human beings only establish civilization which maximize their self-demand but also to maintain satisfactory contact with others . Only in this way in the face of a catastrophic disaster, humans can survive.
