Abstract

The diversity of reproductive system makes angiosperm has advantage in evolution, andalso is an important factor in the population prosperity. The research for plants withdimorphism reproductive system including chasmogamous and cleistogamous can help us tobetter understand evolution trends of reproductive system and reproductive strategy of theplants.Pseudostellaria heterophylla is a typical species with dimorphism reproductive system. The present study focuses on three main aspects as follows:(1)The reproductive ecology of Pseudostellaria heterophylla;(2)The dynastic of the root biomass of Pseudostellaria heterophylla in differentdevelopment period;(3)Effect of different ecological factors on the sexual reproduction in Pseudostellariaheterophylla. The results are as follows:(1)Pseudostellaria heterophylla is the facultative outcrossing plant. The CH is suitablefor cross-pollination and further improves genetic diversity of population; The CL canproduce mass seeds with lower energy consumption, this is a reproductive assurance in stressenvironment; The fleshy storage roots can make clonal reproduction, plays an important rolein population stability. Although the P/O ratio of CL is lower than CH, its fruit set and seed setare higher than in CH. Therefore, the contribution of cleistogamy for population is maincompare to other reproductive pattern.(2)The root biomass of Pseudostellaria heterophylla showed a decreasing trend duringchasmogamouses flowering, and reached to the lowest level in the end of chasmogamousesflowering, then increased slowly after cleistogamouses appeared, and increased rapidly afterover of all cleistogamouses.(3)Pseudostellaria heterophylla of different size showed significant difference in thenumber of flowers. Pseudostellaria heterophylla of the same size showed significantdifference in the number of flowers in the different soil nutrient and soil moisture conditions, there was no significant difference in the different light intensity.
