Abstract


Acrylic electrophoretic paint has several advantages, such as high utilization of thepaint, low-pollution, and wide range of sources of raw materials. In order to improve thetemperature resistance of acrylic anodic electrophoretic paint and corrosion resistance,acrylic anodic electrophoretic paint was synthesized by acrylic acid, methyl acrylate, butylacrylate, hydroxypropyl acrylate and styrene and modified by organic silicone in this work.The structure and properties of the paint were characterized by FT-IR, DSC and TG andfilm performances tests.(1)Basing on mechanism of radical polymerization, BPO was used as the indicator andthe reaction temperature was kept at the boiling point of nbutanol116-117℃When theratio of solvent to monomer was (0.4-0.57)∶1, higher resin viscosity and monomercoversion rate was obtained. The paint was clear and had good water solubility when theratio of soft monomer and hard monomer was (5.5-6.3)∶1.(2)With amino resin as the crosslinking agent, when the amount of amino resinreaches to13%, the crosslinking degree of film can be achieved in more than90%.Ethanolamin was used as the neutralizer and we can get film with good water-solublility.(3)Organic silicone was added with part of monomer, and then the rate of monomerconversion was higher with no gel phnomenon. When the amount of silicone was increased,the resin viscosity was higher while solid content of paint decreased, and the waterabsorption of the film was greatly reduced and corrosion resistance has been improved.(4)The resin was successfully modified by organic silicone; and with increasingsilicone content, the glass transition tempertature of film was increased to61.2℃for theamount of silicone at1.6%; moreover, the decomposition temperature of resin wasimproved after being modified. We can get better film performance when theamount of silicone was0.8%-1.0%.
