Abstract

Recently, coordination polymer nanostructures have attracted intensive interests in chemistry and materials science due to their wide application potentials in a variety of chemical research hot fields, such as gas adsorption, magnetism, optics, separation, catalysis and drug delivery. The small size and specific morphology-dependent properties make coordination polymer nanostructures more attractive for the application in some specific fields compared with the metal organic framework compounds, which has been investigated over the past two decades. More importantly, coordination polymer nanostructures can also be used as precursors to prepare metal oxides, sulfides, alloys, metal/carbon composite materials etc under certain conditions. In this thesis, we synthesized directly coordination polymer nanostructures or sulfide nano-materials under certain conditions by choosing appropriate ligands as assistant. Further more, we also prepared oxide and sulfide nano-materials using the obtained coordination polymer nanostructures as precursors and studied the growth mechanism and related performances of the obtained samples. The main contents of this thesis are summarized as follows:1. We synthesized two copper-isonicotinic acid coordination polymer nanostructures with different compositions and morphologies without the addition of any surfactants or templates via hydrothermal method. We also investigated the compositions and formation mechanism of the obtained nano-structured coordination polymers. After calcined in air, coordination polymer nanostructures can be converted to CuO butterfly-sheet-like nanostructures and CuO nanotubes, which exhibit excellent photocatalytic activities, antibacterial behaviors and lithium ion battery performances.2. We successfully synthesize CuS nanostructures with the obtained copper-isonicotinic acid coordination polymer nanostructures as precursors by two-step synthesis. CuS nanostructures can also be synthesized with isonicotinic acid as assistant by one-pot synthesis. Controlled synthesis of different CuS nanostructures can also be achieved with other ligands as assistant by one-pot synthesis. Through these two routes, different CuS nanostructures including CuS nanoparticles, one dimensional (1D) chain-like CuS nanostructures, CuS nanobelts and CuS nanotubes have been synthesized. We also speculated the possible formation mechanism of the CuS1D nanostructures.3. Copper-trimesic acid and nickel-(8-hydroxyquinoline)(NiO2) coordination polymer nanostructures with different morphologies were successfully synthesized by simple solution method or hydrothermal/solvothermal method with trimesic acid and8-hydroxyquinoline as ligands. The influence of experiment conditions on the morphology of the products was investigated. We also discussed the possible growth mechanism of the coordination polymer nanostructures.
