Abstract

Nowadays car has become an essential transport for the people, but drivers may have occupational low back pain disease during long-term driving due to vibration environment and specific job position. With the continuous growth of car ownership in China, there is a significant increase in the number of drivers who have low back pain disease. Literature studies have shown that the occurrence of low back pain in the drivers have something to do with the vibration generated by the specific work environment; Also some literatures pointed out that the unreasonable biological force in the lumbar spine and lumbar muscle fatigue are the high-risk factors for low back pain onset. So it is very important to study the effect of vibration on the driver’s lumbar muscle fatigue, as well as on the driver’s lumbar force. Find out the connections between the vibration frequency and the driver’s lumbar force as well as lumbar muscle fatigue through analysis can help people to know the influence of vibration environment on the tissue of lumbar spine, thus making it easy to find the treatment methods and prevention measures of driver’s occupational low back pain disease. Also it can provide a favorable reference for the design and development of ergonomics related products; at the same time it can provide theoretical basis for the automotive comfort design. The paper mainly includes the following aspects:1) The meaning of the muscle tissue oxygen parameters were been introduced, and the feasibility of using it to evaluate local muscle fatigue have been analyzed, also the principle of using near-infrared spectroscopy to detect human muscle oxygen was been described.2) Near-infrared non-destructive oxygen parameter detector (the TSAH-100type) was used to detect lumbar muscle oxygen parameters of driver under1,3,4.5,6Hz frequency vibration. In order to find out the influence of vibration on the driver’s lumbar muscle fatigue, the relationship between muscle oxygen changes and vibration frequency were analyzed. Through data analysis, we find out that1Hz frequency vibration can alleviate the driver’s lumbar muscle fatigue; in the rest frequency of vibration environment will increase the driver’s lumbar muscle fatigue, in which4.5Hz worst,6Hz followed,3Hz last.3) Vibration experiments were done to test the vibration acceleration in the driver’s lumbar under1,3,4.5,6Hz frequency vibration, so that the force attached to the lumbar by vibration can be calculated. Comprehensive consideration of vibration frequency, force and muscle oxygen we find out that the lumbar had different force at different vibration frequencies which lead to muscle oxygen saturation had different degree of changes.4) Vibration and seating posture were the main causes of driver’s low back pain. According to the effect of vibration on the driver’s lumbar muscle oxygen, as well as on the driver’s lumbar force, some reasonable solution were given consider both car designers and drivers themselves to protect drivers from low back pain.
