Abstract


In recent years, the green tea power has been widely exploited and utilized at food, chemical, pharmaceutical,etc, and achieved a remarkable economic benefits.Our country, as a big green tea production,tea product resources are very rich. At the same time, along with the improvement of people’s living standard, many family have pets, a lot of people are paying more attention to the health of canine.Given green tea had achieved remarkable effect in swine and poultry.Health protection of aged canine was the major target of this research. In this review,dietary effects of green tea powder supplementation on weight,lipid metabolism, serum antioxidant capacity and immune function and were investigated in aged canines by putting different doses of green tea powder into basal diet of canines. The experiment were4parts.1. Effects of Green Tea Powder on feed intake and weight of aged canines.Effects of addition1000mg/kg,2000mg/kg and4000mg/kg in diet on weight of aged canine were investigated. The results indicated that the addition of green tea power decrease the weight reduction of aged canine without siginificant inhibition in feed intake, when compared with the control group,4000mg/kg green tea powder group the weight of aged canine significantly degraded.2.Effects of Green Tea Power on blood biochemical indices in aged canines.Sixty four ten year-old aged canines were randomly allocated into4groups,each group with4replicates of4canines.The control group fed only with basal diet.Group1,2and3fed a basal diet supplemented with1000mg/kg,2000mg/kg and4000mg/kg green tea power. The aim of experiment was to investigate the effects of different levels of green tea power on blood biochemical indices in aged canine.Treatment2and3TG decreased16.9%and25.35%respectively. The third group fed green tea powders, CHO were decreased15.21%,15.53%and26.38%, respectively,4000mg/kg the differences were significant(P<0.01).2000mg/kg GLU decreased8.46%,but the difference were either significant(P>0.05). The addition green tea power HDL content has increasing trend,2000mg/kg HDL increase16.56%(P<0.05),while decreased LDL content, but the difference were not significant.When the levels of green tea power increased, AST,ALT and TBIL gradually decreased,other groups decreased significantly(P<0.01) except the group of1000mg/kg. Compared with control group TBIL was decreased when fed a basal diet added with2000mg/kg,4000mg/kg, TBIL content were decreased19.65%and21.20%(P<0.01). Serum SCr levels were decreased obviously(P<0.05) by green tea power. The four group fed green tea Powders,SCr were decreased14.40%,36.00%and33.53%,respcetively.BUN,and UA were not influenced sigininficantly(P>0.05).3.Effects of Green Tea Power on antioxdative activity in aged canines.Effects of addition1000mg/kg,2000mg/kg and4000mg/kg on antioxidant capacity of aged canine in diet were investigated.The results showed that:compared with the control group, Numbers serum SOD,GSH-Px activities in aged canine were increased obviously (P<0.05),serum MDA levels were decreased obviously(P<0.05) by green tea power. Treatment2and treatment3SOD and GSH-Px activity was significantly higher (8.38%and8.28%respectively).Treatment1,2,3GSH-Px activity were increased obviously14.37%,18.38%and20.86%.While MDA activity were siginificantly lower (17.00%) in treatment2.SOD and GSH-Px activity have a increasing trend in treatment1and treatment3,but the differences were not siginificant.The study indicated that adding some doses of green tea power in aged canines diet could improve antioxidant capacity of organism.4.Effects of Green Tea Powder on immunological function of aged canines.Effects of addition1000mg/kg,2000mg/kg and4000mg/kg on immunological function of aged canine in diet were investigated.The results indicated that containing green tea powder (2000mg/kg) group T Lymphocyte Transformation Rate(LTT) reached the highest, increased significantly (P<0.05) up to47.83%.Although lower adding green tea powder (1000mg/kg) reduced serum lysozyme activity in the aged canine,2000mg/kg and4000mg/kg groups serum lysozyme activity in aged canine were increased obviously (P<0.01). Compared with control group,the contents of lysozyme in the treatment2and3increased32.76%and19.39%respectively. At the same time, that addition green tea powder serum the total protein were a little higher than those in control (P>0.05), When the levels of green tea power increased,the contents of globulin increased. Treatment3(4000 mg/kg) were higher than the control group(P>0.05).
