Abstract

Objective:To explore the association between microsatellite D6S274genetic polymorp-hism and cognitive function, negative symptoms and positive symptoms in Hanpeople with schizophrenia in Jiangxi Province.Methods:170in-patients as research group(100men and70women),Han people,agerange18~40years,with schizophrenia according to ICD-10.The patients hadn’tbeen treated nootropics for three months and by ECT, and their illcondition wasstable so that they could fulfill the assessments of cognitive function.174healthexamination people as normal controls (98men and76women) matched with gender, age, race and cultural level. All of the subjects agreed to join this study. We assessedall the subjects’ cognitive function by Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA).Thepatients’ psychotic symptoms were assessed by Positive and Negative SyndromeScale(PANSS).Then all the data were analyzed by SPSS16.0statistic software, usingt test, Oneway ANOVA, group two two, stepwise multiple linear regression, thelinear correlation analysis and so on.Significance level α=0.05.Results:1.The research group and the control group in the total score of MoCA,visuo-spatial and executive function, picture naming, memory and delayed memory, attention, language and abstract thinking scores were compared, the differences werestatistically significant (P <0.05); Male and female patients with cognitive functiontest, picture naming and attention points, the differences were statistically significant(P <0.05), MoCA score, visuo-spatial and executive function, memory and delayedmemory, language, abstract thinking and orientation scores, the differences were notstatistically significant (P>0.05).2.Each two genotype groups of the research group, MoCA scale levels of testscores and PANSS scale of negative symptoms, the PANSS scores of the differences were statistically significant (P <0.05); The group of two two, overall, visuo-spatial/executive function, picture naming, memory and delayed memory, attention, language, abstract thinking and orientation scores of the allele172bp of D6S274was lower than other genotypes (P <0.05), PANSS scale negative symptomscores and total scores higher than other genotypes (P <0.05).3.The result of stepwise liner regression indicated that the allele172bp ofD6S274was related to visuospatial/executive function, picture naming, memoryand delayed memory, attention, language impairment and the PANSS scale negativesymptom scores and total scores of patients.4.The linear correlation analysis revealed that the cognitive impairment ofschizophrenia patients was related to negative symptoms.Conclusion:1. The cognitive function of schizophrenic patients was extensively impaired, which mainly displayed in visuo-spatial and executive function, picture naming, memory and delayed memory, attention, language and abstract thinking, andcognitive impairment of schizophrenia may be not different between the genders ofpatients.2. D6S274polymorphism may influence cognitive function of schizophrenia, which mainly involved in visuo-spatial/executive function, picture naming, memory and delayed memory, attention and language impairment.3. D6S274polymorphism may influence the negative symptoms ofschizophrenia, but may have nothing to do with positive symptoms.4. The cognitive impairment of patients was inversely related to negativesymptoms.
