Abstract


Chinese is a language for the largest population. Chinese international promotion is a symbol which indicates how much our country integrates with the whole world "Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language "(TCFL) is also called "International Chinese Education"(ICE) now, which is a promising major. As a newly set up major, TCFL has not formed its fixed and mature teaching model, therefore there are both chances and challenge for the universities. TCFL is a new major in the universities and there are a great many problems existing in it such as training aim, curriculum setting and practice teaching. Local colleges and universities should establish correct training aim, design scientific course structure and construct practical teaching model with wide-ranging stages. Only in this way, can excellent talent of TCEL major be fostered. The methodologies of literature review, comparative analysis, questionnaire survey and interview had been used in this research. This paper primarily discusses the existing problems of curriculum of TCFL major by doing comparative study on the design of curriculum in the colleges and universities of Hangzhou city. By doing questionnaire survey and interview among teachers and students, we analyze their expectations on the curriculum and suggest that some corresponding measures should be taken by local colleges and universities.
