Abstract

Since ancient times, northeast China is a multi-ethnic areas. People of different nations in this area showed their ups and downs, and gradually formed Donghu, Huimo, Sushen in aboriginal nations, etc. The unique natural environment and humane environment breed aggressive national character, coexisted structure of muti-cultures and forging ahead spirit of every native nations.In the 1860s, Qing Government was forced to lift ban in northeast China, and gradually push immigration policy for consolidating frontier defense. At that time northeast China was vast and sparsely populated, abundant of resources with advantageous natural conditions and economic base. It is adjacent to Shanhaiguan and Korean peninsula where was easy to access and became an ideal place to immigrate. Facing severe survival crisis, the Migrants coming from inside Shanhaiguan Pass and Immigrants coming from Korea arrived northeast China. The former spread from the southern Liaoning Province to Jilin and Heilongjiang gradually. With development of paddy fields, the latter gradually expanded from the east to the west, from the south to the north. Agricultural Migrants were the major of modern northeast immigration who engaged in various professions and formed the survival immigration and development-oriented immigration.Immigrations had a strong impact on ecological culture of northeast China, and changed the material production, material life, etiquette custom and folk beliefs of the Northeast. Meanwhile, the economy and culture of native nations also enriched the life of immigrations. Through long-term production activities, people of all ethnic groups unceasingly exchanged in economy, culture, etc, and finally formed inclusive, pioneering, conservative northeast culture.Immigrants brought fresh blood to old northeast culture. The innovational, striving, unremitting spirits of the immigration culture are important factors for exploiting northeast region and important forces for promoting the development of northeast society. But most Immigrants were poor farmers from the bottom of society. This group was lack of big merchants and senior intellectuals. Therefore, the culture brought by them was not elite culture. It played negative effect on northeast culture and characters of the northeast China people. After solving survival crisis, the generations of Immigrants without suffering consciousness and enterprising spirit were brave and recklessly, enthusiastic and rude, loyal and unruly. New northeast culture was still lack of rationality and commercial spirit and got into the dual contradictions of opening and conservation.Culture is essential condition to society development. To develop economy, we must improve the cultural quality of the labourers and perfect the rules of market economy. Under the opportunity of developing the old industrial base of the Northeast, on the one hand, we should inherit and develop the rational elements of northeast culture, on the other hand, we should abandon or modify the unreasonable factors of it. We must vigorously develop traditional enterprising and struggling spirit of pioneers. We should break the traditional thinking mode which is sentimental, unregulated and petty-farmer conscious. With broad mind, we should attract talent, develop technology to create good human and culture environment for economy development. Only rising the overall level of northeast culture, can we make the northeast have new brilliance in the new era.
