Abstract


Depressed rumination is a negative coping style which people will use to deal with the life evens.When the individual repetitively and passively thinks about the symptoms of distress and on the possible causes and consequences of these symptoms, the individual maybe have fell into the depressed rumination. Depressed rumination exacerbates and prolongs negative emotion, interferes with effective problem solving and the other cognitive functions. Depressed rumination includes two components of brooding and reflection, which are two kinds of thinking styles in different from thinking process, content and nature. Brooding is the main reason of depressed rumination ’negative effect,but reflection may be neutral or active components. The function and inherent mechanism of the both remains to be further explored.Depressed rumination can increase overgenerality of autobiographical memory phenomenon.When the individual recalls personal memory, he or she retrievals difficultly specific events, and instead general, repeated or recurrent events.This phenomenon is known as overgenerality of autobiographical memory. Based on previous research, clinical depressive and other mood disorders individuals have more obvious overgenerality of autobiographical memory, which is a susceptibility markers of depression, can worsen depression degree, prolonged depression duration, blocked depression recovery. Depressed rumination is one of the important causes of overgenerality of autobiographical memory,and which in turn will also increase the emergence of individual depressive thinking tendency. Therefore, there is close relationship among depressed rumination, overgenerality of autobiographical memory and depression.If we can understand how depressive rumination and overgenerality of autobiographical memory effect depression and other negative emotion, it may contribute to rich the theoretical construction of depressive rumination and overgenerality of autobiographical memory and also will provide theoretical basis for the negative emotion detection, prevention and the treatment of negative emotion.This paper recruited normal healthy students,using questionnaires in study1and2×2experimental design in study2to mostly research the effect depressive rumination and overgenerality of autobiographical memory on depression, overgeneral autobiographical memory acts as a moderator when depressed rumination effects on depress, how the relationship between respectively the brooding, reflection and depression, autobiographical memory. Conclusions of this research are:1.Depressed rumination and autobiographical memory can worsen depression.2.Overgenerality of autobiographical memory plays a moderating role in depressive rumination and two factors on the influence of depressive mood.3.Brooding can increase individual’s depressed mood, but reflection can’t.4.The persons who prefer brooding has obvious overgenerality of autobiographical memory.
