Few of Asian countries carry out Parliamentary republic system, but Singapore is one ofthem. Singapore inherited Westminster electoral model of British, setting up a competitiveelectoral system. As Singapore’s opposition party was always weak, and the People’s ActionParty used advantages in electoral system, resources and environment to control ballot, thePeople’s Action Party always won the general election without any doubt. However, in the2011general election, the party only won60.14%of the vote, not only lost six house seats, also apublic constituency, which was never lost. After the election, people think there be a “politicalchange” in Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, the prime minister of Singapore, also says:” thegeneral election in May is a watershed, it reflects the Singapore society’s change of the time."This paper starts with the2011general election, introducing the new situation and the newresult of this election at first; putting emphasis on the reasons why the People’s Action Partyobtains low vote next; at last, analyzing what changes of Singapore’s political development willcome after the election. Specifically, the paper includes four parts: the first part summarizeschanges of this election in2011; the second part focuses on the reasons why the People’s ActionParty "fail"; the third part analyzes the favorable factors for the opposition; the fourth partprobing into the new development of Singapore politics after the election.Although people’s support for the People’s Action Party has fallen in the election, but theresult shows that Singapore people still trust the party, what they want is the party could changetimely.
