With the development of mining engineering in northern Yima open-pit, the mining boundary of open-pit is more and more close to the Longhai railway. The security problems of Longhai railway and its vicinity important buildings are threaten.Longhai railway is located on the south bench, south bench boundary of the design is away from Longhai railway 50m,basically reach the eastern boundary, the midwest is gradually to reach the boundary, but also millions of tons of coal are pressed, how to ensure the absolute safety of the Longhai railway, the maximum mines remaining coal resources is a major issue solved.On the basis of analyzing previous geological data, the formation, lithology, rock mass structure, soft interlayer of field slope are investigated. Various experiment of rock and soil mechanics are made.Strength deformation indicators are decided. We has analyzed the main factors to influence slope stability and deformation and failure characteristics of slope.The stability of south slope is simulated by numerical simulation. The south slope of northern Yima open-pit is analyzed systematically. The final mining boundary of open-pit is reasonable determinated by using results of numerical simulation method. Scheme of mining and stripping which maintaines the stability of south slope is proposed in the security situation of ensuring Longhai railway and its vicinity important buildings. Service life of open-pit is prolonged maximum to obtain more economic benefit and social benefit.
