Abstract


Children’s growing may conflict with many aspects such as social and adult’s morality and ethics, educational regulatory and living circumstances, which makes children feel restraint and causes lots of problems such as children’s twisted soul, anxiety, depression, rebellion, stray, crimes and so on. These kinds of children have been labled as "problematic children" in the adlut’s society. A wholy new attention has been paid to all these happenings in children’s fiction of the new period. Writers’studying and description of this speical group directly reflects their understanding of children’s living states. And it also reflects the further forward of the depth of thought and art of children’s literature of the new era.The thesis contains five parts:The preface part maily deals with the definition of concepts, elaboration of research questions and introduction to relative present research.Chapter one focuses on the categories and reasons of "problematic children" in children’s fiction of the new era. Three main categories have been classified as "twisted soul and young offenders", "rebellious personality", "students with bad academic record" and "bad children" and a detaied analysis of the reasons has been given in the following aspects as historical wound of "cultural revolution", individual realization and change, and educational regulatory.The artistic expression of "problematic children" in children’s fiction of the new period is discussed in chapter two from three aspects:text narrative pespective, intensification of conflicts and highlight pychological description. Writers usually choose the kind of narrative pespective related to children’s view, educaitonal view and narrative aesthetics. In order to make "problems" prominent, the relations betweem characters in the fiction are usually estalished as opposite and contrary to intensify conflicts. Psychological description is highlighted in portraying images of "problematic children" to expose their complicated inner emotions such as conscious reaction and pychological changes.Chapter three elaborates the signifcance and questions of the narration of "problematic children" in children’s fiction of the new period. A comparison of narrations of "problematic children" has been made between those in adult literature and in foreign children’s fiction, which aims to show the significance and questions of the narration of "problematic children" in children’s fiction of the new period. A unique meaning of realistic care and literary aesthetics value have been pointed out as the prominent significance of the narration of "problematic children" in children’s fiction of the new period and the limits and deficiency of this kind of narration have also been discussed.The conclusion is the revision and summary of the whole thesis, which discusses the differences between literary images of "problematic childrem" and realistic images, and reflects on the crux of reasons or solutions to "problematic children" of adult society.
