Abstract


Since China’s reform and opening up, its higher education has made remarkable achievements. The number of schools and enrollment in higher education rank the world, but the quality of China’s higher education and the cultivation of innovation talents are far below the world-class university standards. Of which there are problems within the university management system. The strong sense of internal administration within the universities, academic authority in the doldrums, teachers lack enthusiasm for participation in school management, students’ participation rights are not well protected and so on, particularly the confrontation between the executive and academic issues became the focus. How to solve these problems? The reasonable construction of University’s internal power structure provides some perspectives.In this study, based on stakeholder theory and organizational structure theory, historical research method, literature research method and comparative research method are used to analyze the main historical development of the different powers at different times within the modern university, the principles and effective institutions of building the internal power structure, and the recommendation of protecting the internal power structure to build reasonably, finally draw the conclusion. The study is divided into six sections:The first part proposes the background of selected topic, theoretical and practical significance of this study, summarizes the literature review of relevant inter-university power structure at home and abroad, proposes the research purposes and methods to define the definition of modern university, authority and power structure.The second part, combined with the stakeholder and organizational structure theory to construct the theoretical basis of the power structure within the university.The third part presents historical development process and realities main powers of different powers within the university, and proposes the necessity of constructing reasonable construction of the power structure within the university.The fourth part analysis the university’s external management, internal governance and power structure characteristics of the United States, Britain and Japan, provides a reference and inspiration for internal power structure of Chinese University.The fifth part, analysis the construction principles of the power structure within the university and reasonable institutional settings of the power structure within the university, this section is the main part of this study.The sixth part proposes four proposals to guarantee the reasonable construction of the internal power structure of the university.
