Abstract


The sex ratio at birth is a major issue in the study population , Guangzhou since the census , the sex ratio has been high , and if you do not attach importance to the birth sex ratio imbalances , is bound to result in some age groups , even the sex structure of the population as a whole imbalance in society brought about a series of serious population security , economic , political , social , cultural , and other issues . In this paper, the Guangzhou Municipal Population and Family Planning Bureau in July 2009 Population in Guangzhou Fertility Desires \in-depth analysis of the impact of socio-economic backgrounds, cultural traditions , as well as family planning policy on the sex ratio at birth continues to rise , to investigate the sex ratio at birth imbalance and intrinsic motivation , and put forward a number of policy recommendations on this basis . Empirical analysis reveals the process of Guangzhou Sex Ratio at Birth in recent years mainly experienced a rapid increase in first , followed by a gradual decline ; still to fluctuate within a range of slightly above normal , and showed a high floating population in rural areas is higher than the central city , household population , unplanned births than planned born population characteristics . The findings show that male preference is the root cause of the problems of the sex ratio at birth . Explore Guangzhou high sex ratio influencing factors include: the influence of traditional culture of male light woman ; fertility policy change , the floating population in the process of urbanization , as well as a higher level of economic development , the distribution system of collective economic impact ; the advanced gender identification technology means and sex-selective abortion . Analyzed Guangzhou on the comprehensive management of birth sex ratio concept is relatively backward , governance mechanisms are inadequate governance tools are still relatively lacking . Finally , the authors on the basis of analyzing the results of the study born in Guangzhou City, the high sex ratio issues policy recommendations to improve gender structure , the Guangzhou population development goals , including re- positioning , moderate adjustment of fertility policy and guide to change the concept of the masses , learn from the experience of advanced regions and to establish and improve the governance mechanisms to strengthen the government departments, the division of responsibility and governance assessment .
