Abstract

With the rapid development of virtual reality technology and computer network, thedistributed virtual reality technology has become a new research hotspot, which integrated boththe advantages of them. And now it’s showing a good prospect in the industrial manufacturing, military applications, distance education, urban planning, culture and entertainment, architecturedesign and so on. As a application platform of multi-user, real-time interactive collaboration, massive data organization, efficiently network transmission, the large-scale distributed virtualreality system is attracting the attention of more and more researchers. But at abroad and domestic, the relevant research is just start, many theories or technology is not mature. So in many respects, they are worthy of our in-depth research..Faced with the new demand for large-scale mass data management and visualization, collaborative interaction, remote access, we should design and implement the resourcemanagement and network transmission. This paper is part works of the large-scale distributedvirtual reality system "ViWo", which design the resource management module and HTTP-basedaccess network transmission module of ViWo system. The specific work is summarized asfollows:ViWo system design a scalable and efficient system architecture, facing the virtualreality system of a huge user participation, mass data management, networktransmission and distributed;Design and implement resource management module. This module to achieve the samekind resource reusable, memory management of a variety of resources, resource update, network request and memory data loading and unloading functions. The module isserve for the upper application, through providing many external interfaces;Design and implement network transmission model of the ViWo client. Facing a varietyof2d/3d data requirement, this module exposes to outside a unified network requestinterface through encapsulating the HTTP-based protocol. And apply someoptimization methods to accelerate the network request;Based on these design, this paper implements the corresponding modules of ViWosystem. At last we do a series of tests to validate the feasibility and validity.
