Abstract


The development of Guangxi Beibu Gulf shows unprecedented vitality in the new round of reform and opening. The coupling development between industry cluster and urban agglomeration has become an important model and motivation for the future economic development. Firstly, in the development mode of regional integration, urban agglomeration influences and determines the local competitiveness to some extent, so at this stage, different economic regional governments are speeding up the pace of urban agglomeration construction in the high-intensity. Secondly, in essence, urbanization is accompanied by the development of industrialization process, both of them jointly write a new chapter in regional economic development. It has become a significant theory and practical topic that how to further explore the internal driving force of economic and social development through the coupling development of industry cluster and urban agglomeration.On the basis of discussion in detail about industry cluster and urban agglomeration of Guangxi Beibu Gulf, the article tests Granger causality between industry cluster and urban agglomeration of Guangxi Beibu Gulf, and aims to explore the relationship among the coupling development to grasp the depth focus and direction of Guangxi Beibu Gulf regional industry cluster and urban agglomeration coupled development and construction. Next, the article creates multiple index system to test the level of development of Guangxi Beibu Gulf regional industry cluster and urban agglomeration and the coupling effect of the development on the regional economy.The main conclusions of the article is that the industrial development of Guangxi Beibu Gulf region is the Granger cause of urban development, but the urban development is not the Granger cause of industrial development basically; the coupling development of industry cluster and urban agglomeration of Guangxi Beibu Gulf is in a transition phase from antagonistic period to running-in period. Finally, the article comes up with strategies to improve the coupling development of industry cluster and urban agglomeration:pay attention to manufacturing of Guangxi Beibu Gulf and accelerate the development of new industries; strengthen the government’s macro-control and establish the strategic thinking of coupling development of industry cluster and urban agglomeration; treat the talent strategy as the core and improve the core competitiveness of the urban agglomeration.
