Abstract

In this paper, P(MMA-St) copolymer was synthesized by solution polymerization, meanwhile, and ultrasonic restore iron ion into nano-iron particles which were wrapped in the polymer, finally nano-iron/polymer composites were prepared. The complexes were characterized by means of XRD, FT-IR, TEM, XPS, TG etc.Poly(methyl methacrylate)-polystyrene[P(MMA-St)] copolymer was synthesized by ultrasonic solution polymerization using methyl methacrylate and styrene as the monomers, azobisisobutyronitrile as the initiator, toluene as the solvent. The effects of the proportion of toluene and monomer, the amount of initiator, ultrasonic time and ultrasonic power on solution polymerization were researched. The copolymer was characterized by means of FT-IR,1H-NMR,TG etc. The results showed that: when toluene and monomers ratio was1:1, MMA and St ratio was1:1, the amount of initiator was0.5%, ultrasonic time was60min, ultrasonic power was600W, can get better copolymer. The decomposition temperature of the P(MMA-St) was384.98℃and had good thermal stability. The polymer prepared by ultrasonic solution polymerization was P(MMA-St), and this method was a more economical and environmentally friendly method.Nano-iron/Poly(methyl methacrylate-styrene)[P(MMA-St)] composites were synthesized by solution polymerization ultrasonically without addition of metal reducer. The effects of ultrasonic time, ultrasonic power and the content of initiator on on monomer conversion rate were researched. The complexes were characterized by means of XRD, FT-IR, TEM, XPS, TG etc. The results showed that: concentration of monomer(MMA and St) was10wt%, content of iron was0.3wt%, ratio of MMA and St was1:1, ultrasonic time was60min, ultrasonic power was600W, content of initiator was0.5wt%. The nano-iron particles had primitive hexagonal structure, and dispersed homogeneously in P(MMA-St) matrix. The dispersion of nano iron particles in P (MMA-St) matrix was not simple physical cladding, but there existed an interaction between them. The decomposition temperature of nano-iron/P (MMA-St) composites (365.52℃) was lower20℃than P (MMA-St), explained nano iron had negetive influence on P (MMA-St) matrix, the thermal stability of the nano-iron/P(MMA-St) composites decreased with nano-iron particles dispersing in the composites.Nano Fe-Cu/Poly(methyl methacrylate-styrene)[P(MMA-St)] composites were preparared by solution polymerization ultrasonically without addition of metallic reducer. The complexes were characterized by means of XRD, FT-IR, TEM, XPS, TG etc. The results showed that: the dispersion of nano metal particles in P (MMA-St) matrix was not simple physical cladding, but there existed a certain chemical reaction between them, formed a coordinate covalent bond, in order to achieve chemical compound on a microscopic scale between nano metal and polymer. Nano Fe-Cu/P(MMA-St) composites had clear pore and channel structure. The decomposition temperature of the composites material (356.58℃) was lower29℃than P (MMA-St)(384.98℃), also lower9℃than nano-Fe/P (MMA-St) composites (365.52℃), explained the thermal stability of the P(MMA-St) composites decreased with nano-alloy particles dispersing in the composites, meanwhile the thermal stability of the nano-Fe/P(MMA-St) composites also decreased with the addition of copper.
