Abstract

Due to their respective unique properties, carbon nanotube, polyaniline and gold nanoparticle havealways been the hot materials concerned by many researchers. Carbon nanotube, as one of the mostimportant nanomaterials, has gained more and more attention. In this paper, carbon nanotube, polyaniline(one representative of conducting polymers) and gold nanoparticle (one representative of inorganicnanoparticles) nanocomposites were prepared through the different methods. Because of the uniqueproperties of these three materials, the functional co-operative effects of their composites were furtherdeveloped in this research. This kind of composites may have great potential application values indevelopment of optical instruments, sensors, catalysts, microelectronic devices, et al.In this dissertation, the main parts are as follows:Firstly, under strong acidic condition, MWNTs-COOH/PANI/Au composites were prepared byone-step method, using chloroauric acid as the oxidant and carbon nanotubes as carrier. However, theuniform and size-controllable gold nanoparticles in the composites can not be obtained. The generated goldnanoparticles tended to form aggregated gold under those reaction conditions. By improving the aboveexperimental approach, one kind of perfect carbon nanotubes/polyaminothiophenol/gold nanoparticlesternary composites was prepared in the presence of sulfhydryl. The2-aminothiophenol is beneficial to theideal dispersion of gold nanoparticles. MWNTs-COOH/PAPT/Au composites exhibit effective catalyticeffect on the conversion to the nitro group into amino experiment.Secondly, MWNTs-COOH/PANI nanocomposites were fabricated via in situ chemical oxidationpolymerization at different initial pH values. The morphology of composites can be adjusted by means ofthe initial pH value of the reaction solution and the conductivity of the MWNTs-COOH/PANI compositedecreases with the pH-initial values increasing from0.3to7.0. The MWNTs-COOH/PANI nanocompositesprepared under the lower initial pH exhibited better conductivity and dielectric loss ability to be used asmicrowave absorbing material. Moreover, MWNTs-COOH/PANI composites were prepared under1.0M and pH=2.0HCl aqueoussolution, respectively. Then, gold nanoparticles were loaded on both of the prepared binary composites to gain MWNTs-COOH/PANI/Au ternary composites. By comparison, it showed that theMWNTs-COOH/PANI composites prepared in pH=2.0HCl aqueous solution can load more uniform andsize-controllable gold nanoparticles than the compostes obtained in1.0M HCl aqueous solution. TheMWNTs-COOH/PANI composites prepared in pH=2.0HCl aqueous solution also exhibited the bettercatalytic performance for the nitro group conversion into amino reaction. Finally, high-temperature reflowing method was attempted preparing MWNTs-COOH/Au andMWNTs-SH/Au binary composites. But the optimal process of the preparation towards uniform size andgood dispersion of gold nanoparticles has not been reached. It is hoped that the ideal composites will begained by further improvements of the experimental methods.
