This thesis demonstrated the adsorption of oleic acid molecule on the surface of Fe3O4magnetic nanoparticles. Meanwhile, the self-assembly of the amphiphilic molecule4-vinylphenylboronic acid on single layer oleic acid coated Fe3O4magnetic nanoparticles and in-situ polymerization were used to prepare functional magnetic nanoparticles with boric acid groups for the first time. Preliminary research of their application was also performed. In the first place, single oleic acid layer coated Fe3O4magnetic nanoparticles were obtained by means of chemical co-precipitation process. Oleic acid molecule adsorption states on Fe3O4magnetic nanoparticles were analyzed and proved with FTIR, TGA and XPS. Oleic acid could form double and single layer structure on the surface of magnetic nanoparticles. For the double layer structure, there existed1710cm-1characteristic peak in the FT-IR spectrum. The TGA curve had two weight loss stages, which were the chemical and physical adsorption oleic acid. However, there was no1710cm-1peak in the FT-IR spectrum of the single layer structure. The TGA curve had only one weight loss stage, which was the chemical adsorption oleic acid. The oleic acid content of the single layer structure was about10%, the average particle size is about10nm and the saturation magnetization is59emu/g.In the second place, self-assembly induced by hydrophobic interaction and in-situ polymerization were combined to synthesized functional magnetic nanoparticles with boric acid groups without precedent. The surface of single oleic acid layer coated Fe3O4magnetic nanoparticles were full of hydrophobic long chain. At the same time, one end of the amphiphilic molecule4-vinylphenylboronic acid was also hydrophobic. Therefore, the hydrophobic interaction between them made the amphiphilic4-vinylphenylboronic acid molecules orderly assemble around the surface of the nanoparticles. After then, the assembled molecules were polymerized under appropriate conditions. Finally, functional magnetic nanoparticles with boric acid groups was successfully prepared. All kinds of factors of self-assembly were investigated. FTIR, TEM, TGA and VSM were used to characterize these nanoparticles. It turned out that the functional magnetic nanoparticles, synthesized under the most suitable conditions, showed good dispersibility, stability and superparamagnetism. The modified polymer content is about25.86%, the average particle size is about14nm, the saturation magnetization is43emu/g. In the end, elementary study of application for the functional magnetic nanoparticles with boric acid groups was conducted. The surface of the functional magnetic nanoparticles was full of boric acid groups, which made them useful in the adsorption of biomacromolecule, such as bovine serum albumin. The solution pH, adsorption time and BSA initial concentration could influence the adsorption process. The experiments, of which the adsorption conditions were the best, indicated that the adsorbing capacity of the functional magnetic nanoparticles for BSA was about135μg/mg. All the results reflected the superiority of molecular assembly in making the functional magnetic nanoparticles.
