Abstract

Metal organic framework (MOF), as a new type of porous material, has attracted more attention material scientists for its potential applications in gas storage, separation, adsorption and catalysis etc. This dissertation focuses on the design, synthesis and characterization of the hierarchical porous materials based on MOF. By appropriate synthetic strategies, the MOF crystals were successfully controlled with the size under120nm, which form the inter-crystal pores within50nm. Attended with solid nanoparticles (size greater than50nm) as hard template in the reaction mixture, the hierarchical porous materials containing micro-, meso-and macro-pores were obtained. This thesis according to three different MOF types contains three parts as follows:1. The hierarchical porous materials based on NMOF of MIL-100(Al), named as HMOF-1:The NMOF of MIL-100(Al) was successfully prepared with the size of30nm, from which inter-crystal mesopores of ca8.7nm was obtained. Attended with the hard template A adding into the reaction mixture, the HMOF-1containing micro-, meso-and macropores were gained after completing the reaction and removing the hard template. The former named as HMOF-1a, and the latter as HMOF-1b.2. The hierarchical porous materials based on NMOF of MIL-110(A1), named as HMOF-2:The NMOF of MIL-110(Al) was successfully prepared with the size of25nm. Also attended with a hard template B to the reaction mixture, the hierarchical materials containing micro-, meso-and macropores were obtained after completing the reaction and removing the hard template. However, due to adding the hard template, the size of NMOF was reduced to20nm. The former named as HMOF-2a, and the latter as HMOF-2b.3. The hierarchical porous materials based on NMOF of HKUST-1, named as HMOF-3: The NMOF of HKUST-1was successfully prepared with the size of40-80nm by different methods. Also attended with a hard template to the reaction mixture, the hierarchical materials containing micro-, meso-and macropores were obtained after completing the reaction and removing the hard template. Materials of the former method named as HMOF-3a, and the latter as HMOF-3b.All above the materials were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, SEM, IR and TGA. Some of them are also characterized by N2-adsorption.
