Abstract

Grinding process is an essential machining process. Large amount of heat isgenerated and transmitted to the surface of workpiece, which results in surface burning. So flooding grinding process is widely used in the machining process to reduce theinfluence on the surface quality of workpiece from grinding heat. But a large number ofgrinding fluid is used and causes serious pollution to the environment, which can notmeet the requirements of the current green machining. Dry grinding process andminimum quantity lubrication (MQL) grinding process meet the requirements ofenvironmental protection, but having poor cooling and lubricating effect, and it isdifficult to obtain a good surface quality. MQL technology by nanoparticles jet can wellsolve problem of heat transfer in the grinding zone, while enhancing the lubricatingproperties of grinding zone. This paper researches the surface topography creation of workpiece under theMQL by nanoparticles jet and builds up the corresponding mathematical models.MATLAB language is used to program, and numeric calculation is utilized to achieve asimulation of the grinding process. The influence law between grinding parameters andgrinding wheel parameters and surface roughness is got, and the correspondingexperimental verification is made. The specific research work is as follows:1. For single abrasive surface grinding process, single grit kinematic model, abrasive geometric model, elastic deformation model and plastic accumulation model isestablished and surface topography of workpiece is researched.2. For surface grinding process by engineered grinding wheel, multi-grit kinematicmodel is established. The grit arrangement parameters of engineered grinding wheel aregiven. According to the arrangement parameters, three arrangement schemes are chosen. And surface topography and roughness of workpiece by engineered grinding wheelgrinding is compared.3. Using the grit vibration method, the mathematical model of conventionalgrinding wheel is established. And the simulation of conventional grinding wheel topography has been finished. According to the grinding wheel topography bysimulation and grinding parameters, the surface grinding simulation is proceeded. Andthe influence law between grinding parameters and grinding wheel parameters andsurface topography and roughness is researched.4. Some experiments of surface grinding process are carried out to research thesurface topography of workpiece. The research emphasis is the influence law betweengrinding parameters and grinding wheel parameters and surface roughness under theMQL by nanoparticles jet. Also the simulation results are compared.5. The machining effect of MQL by nanoparticles jet is researched by experiment. And the workpiece surface quality of MQL by nanoparticles jet is compared with that offlooding grinding, dry grinding, MQL under the same grinding parameters. Thelubrication effect of MQL by nanoparticles jet is verified.
