Abstract

[ Objective] To explore the relationship between the changes and neuronal degeneration [ method ] collection Fuzhou General Hospital for surgery 30 cases of intractable epilepsy patient specimens of refractory temporal lobe epilepsy patients mitochondria . According to the situation of hippocampal degeneration is divided into A, the sclerosis group B , non- hardened group . Preoperative clinical data collected : age of onset , age at surgery , brain damage age . ( Including brain damage types including: febrile seizures , encephalitis , neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy , intracranial hemorrhage , traumatic brain injury due to birth trauma . ) Operating room scene is based , the same samples were fixed , respectively light microscope electron microscopy. [Results ] 1 Histopathological observation found different degrees of degeneration and necrosis of neurons , gliosis appears , mainly microglia have neurotropic phenomenon . Ultrastructure observed a decrease in the number of nerve cells , contains more lignans particles in the cytoplasm , swelling of mitochondria , the inner and outer membrane disintegration , crest deformation fracture disappeared , some mitochondria showed vacuolation . Nerve cell degeneration karyopyknosis density increase . Small gliosis , astrocytoma body and the projection of the swelling, and most of the fine control disappears . The amount of glial cells gathered around the nerve cells in part of the region ranging . Sclerosis group compared with pathological findings and clinical data comparing duration of the long duration of the non - hardened group , the difference was statistically significant ( t = 11.O0 , P = 0.048 ) . The results show that the sclerosis group than non hardening group telogen longer , but the difference was no statistically significant (t = 1.769 , P = 0.127 ) . Age-related hippocampal neurons depigmentation extent of the brain damage occurred , the younger brain injury , the more severe demyelination of neurons , has nothing to do with age at surgery , and electron microscopy results mitochondrial ultrastructure observed mitochondrial damage level between the two groups there are significant differences . [Conclusion ] brain damage plays an important role in the pathogenesis of epilepsy , the earlier the age of onset , longer duration of hippocampal sclerosis is more prone to the prevention of brain damage , early treatment of epilepsy treatment process is important .
