Abstract

In recent years, as the booming development of China’s aviation and aerospaceindustry, the silicon carbide particles reinforced aluminum matrix composites(SiCp/Al) is also more and more widely used. Due to the difficulty of cuttingprocessing, electrical discharge machining was also drawing much more attention.Powder-Mixed EDM technology can effectively improve the processing efficiency, reduce the surface roughness, improve the surface properties, and thus also attractsmore people’s attention. This paper was intended to, on the basis of in ordinary EDM kerosene, explainthe effect on the electric field, the discharge tunnel as well as the electrical erosionamount in the process of electric discharge after the power is added. By using asingle factor experiment and orthogonal test, arrange a series of technologicalexperiment such as Pulse on time, duty cycle, peak current and voltage of thefactors, etc. in order to compare the processing efficiency among the SiCp/Alcomposite ordinary EDM and Powder–Mixed EDM, SiCp/Al the compoundmaterial and the ASP-23of the steel mix powder electrical discharge machining;and to summarize and optimize the processing efficiency of SiCp/Al compositematerials in ordinary EDM and Powder-Mixed EDM; finally to use the optimizedparameters to work out excellent surface processing. Finally, this paper aims to conduct a full-scan comparison and analysis on thesurface of kerosene and Powder-Mixed after large-area processing. Suchcomparison mainly involves the processing surface roughness, the processingsurface morphology, the surface elements analysis and the hardness and corrosionresistance, and also accounts for the differences and changes among the aboveaspects. In general Powder-Mixed processing surface have been improved in all theabove aspects.
