Abstract


The Guantouba Bridge is located in Gansu Province. It crosses the Pai-lung River andconnects Wenxian County with Bikou County. It was opened to traffic in1988. After theWenchuan earthquake, responding to national call, it was demanded deeply management forthe road maintenance, and further monitoring and controlling for the bridges and culverts inGansu Province. Therefore, a system was urgently needed to make a bridge managementwhich can grasp the bridge’s structure and the operating conditions in real-time.In this thesis, according to the specific structure and monitoring requirements of theGuantouba Bridge, combined with the finite element analyzing results,4monitoring sectionsand56fiber grating strain monitoring sensors were set up. And the Guantouba Bridge FBGstrain monitoring system has been formatted. The analyzing results of the monitoring dataverified the reliability of the system. It shows that the system is working stably. In order tosolve the monitoring data’s suddenly change problem caused by temperature compensation,the temperature compensation system based on DS18B201-wire temperature sensor has beendeveloped. The temperature compensation system can automatically identify the number ofsensors on each channel. Then, it will collect the temperature data of each channel reliably tocompensate temperature for fiber grating strain monitoring system. Using the Proteussoftware, the hardware and software of temperature compensation system were simulated.The simulation results showed that the system collects data rapidly and runs reliably. In thehost computer, the monitoring software can make temperature compensation for each strainsensor with the accurate temperature value and correct the strain data.The establishment of Guantouba Bridge fiber grating strain monitoring system makes iteasy for the bridge managers to grasp the stress-strain of the bridge key components inreal-time and to detect the exception of the bridge structure as soon as possible. It can alsoprovide reliable protection for the safe operation of Guantouba Bridge. The research resultsof this article can also be used to the design and installation of other similar bridge strainmonitoring system.It has theoretical significance and engineering practical value.
