Traffic simulation technology is an important part of Intelligent Transportation System(ITS). The effect of intelligent traffic control algorithm can be authenticated through traffic simulation. However, the traditional traffic simulation technology cannot meet the current demand of urban expressway simulation, which making it extremely difficult to achieve algorithm simulation.This paper analyzes the simulation needs of urban expressway, and designs the overall framework urban expressway simulation platform based on it. What’s more, the functions within the framework are all realized. In the end of this paper, the final results of this simulation platform is authenticated. The main contributions of the dissertation are summarized as follows:Firstly, the channels between the TransModeler internal and the external algorithm are opened up by designing the TransModeler secondary development framework, Which helping import the external algorithm into TransModeler through GISDK, and solving the problems that the traditional simulation platform cannot import external problems.Secondly, aimed at the real-time and closed-loop online control demand of urban expressway algorithm simulation, this paper designs one real-time database and simulation flow controller. This real-time database gets the real database by using the TsmAPI interface, and stores them after being tranfered into mean values from the instantaneous values, which is used by the external algorithm, and achieving the real-time demand. In the same time, through using the callback function underlying the system, the simulation flow is controlled. The closed-loop online control demands can be achieved by cycle calling.Thirdly, some intelligent algorithm not only need the real time traffic flow data, but also needs the predictive data of future. This paper using the Kalman Filter Algorithm for short-time traffic flow forecasting of urban expressway. The predictive results is great by simulation, and the algorithm is useful and help to support the control algorithm.Finally, on the basis of the works above, this paper chooses the Sitong Bridge area as the simulation background, and build the urban expressway simulation platform, and test the real effect of the coordinated control strategy on-ramp and adjacent intersection based on the real-time traffic status. The simulation result shows that the simulation platform can great support the coordinated control strategy simulation.
