Abstract

Objective:To assess the relationship between chlamydia pneumoniaeinfection and multiple sclerosis. Methods:Computer retrieval method was performed to retrieverelevant literatures comprehensively in order to converg into a large sampledata. The literatures were screened, quality evaluated and heterogeneity test. The extracted data was analyzed on RevMan5.1software.Results:34articles were included into the Meta analysis.we obtained4775samples, including1999cases.The result showed that multiplesclerosis group were more likely to detect the Cpn DNA in cerebrospinalfluid than control group (OR=5.03,95%CI=[2.32,10.93], P <0.0001)and synthesis of intrathecal Cpn specific IgG was also more obvious (OR=3.33,95%CI=[2.09,5.30], P <0.00001) by using the random effectsmodel to combine statistics.Sensitivity analysis suggested that the resultwas stable and reliable. Conclusions:There was a positive association between Chlamydiapneumonia infection and MS to some extent, but a causal relationship ofeither direction remains to be further clarified.
