Abstract


ObjectiveTo prove the results with the treatment of Pediatric with Kyphosis in healed thoracolumbar tuberculosis underwent Modified Pedicle Subtraction Osteotomy(MPSO).MethodsFrom January2008to August2012, twenty-six Pediatric with kyphosis in healed stages of spinal tuberculosis, all patients with kyphotic deformity of the spine in healed stages of TB underwent Modified Pedicle Subtraction Osteotomy(MPSO).The mean follow-up was41months (range8-56months).The kyphotic angle ranged from51°to79°before operation,64.3°in average. The sagittal angles and sagittal balance were analyzed to determine the corrective effect of kyphosis by measuring the data from the standing lateral plain films,which were taken before and after theoperation,and at the follow-up respectively. The horizontal distance between the C7and S1were also measured from photographs of the patients before and after operation.ResultsAll incisions were healed perfectly. The average operation time was256min(188～314m in),and average blood loss was470ml(320～680ml).No neurovascular injury was noted. Kyphotic Cobb angle was64.3°and8.4°respectively before and after operation, with average correction55.9°. Correcting rate was86.9%. The horizontal distance between the C7and S1was50.2mm and10.58mm respectively before and after operation. Correcting rate was78.9%.Seven cases with preoperative. All patients received good bone healing, no significant loss of correction angle.ConclusionModified Pedicle Subtraction Osteotomy(MPSO) is effective for kyphosis in Pediatric who are with healed stages of thoracolumbar tuberculosis.
