Abstract


Irving Babbitt (Irving Babbitt ,1865-1933), Harvard University (Harvard), Professor of Comparative Literature Department, educator, and cultural critic. Babbitt led the new humanist movement lasted for twenty years, although the time is not long, but it comes to history, literature, politics, education, ethics and other fields. Many of his unique insights on education in his book sporadically scattered among these views even from a modern perspective but also thought-provoking, educational practice for us some guidance role, such as the University of the elective system, credit system, degree system and so on. Also, because Babbitt the ancient Buddhist, Confucian China has considerable research, and these studies and Western civilization blend into their discourse, so research Babbitt's New Humanism Education, scholars can understand the exotic mode of thinking on another level from mining our national culture also benefit. In this paper, the perspective of educational research Babbitt's New Humanism, through the possession of literature analysis, combing their education based on the ideas trying to be innovative.
