Abstract

Proust pays great attention to the reality of his works,in A la recherche du temps perdu,using the technique in the stream of consciousness, he tries to present the real style of life and he gets it in the end. Yet,many readers who have misread voluminous words and rambling consciousness flow think that it is a novel full of structure of chaos.But the fact is just the opposite.though he uses the technique in the stream of consciousness, Proust does not take the novel structure out of control.he just "goes to great lengths to organize his works,and then tries to erase these obvious traces of the structure."we can find that easily by reading with great patience.Based on the novel itself,this thesis considering Chinese and foreign scholar’s academic ideas researches the structure of this masterpiece,and gives a clear conclusion finally.The first part of the thesis studies the external structure of the novel.On the macro,it presents two structures:a circular structure,para structure and a church-like structure based on para structure;The second part of the thesis studies the internal structure of the novel.it comprises linear structure,symmetrical structure and the closed structure.Meanwhile,symmetrical structure consists of symmetrical title,symmetrical details, symmetrical characters and symmetrical terms;The third part of the thesis studies the origin and significance of the structure of the novel.there,his great importance to the novel structure, spirit of literary innovation, his knowledge music and painting for reference.
