As a highly difficult cross-cultural activity, interpretation involves a number of complicated procedures which can be affected by a variety of factors, and preparation is one of them, which facilitates the comprehension of interpreters. Owing to a good preparation, efforts on interpreters’will be saved. As a result, interpreters will become less stressed and the quality of interpretation is therefore improved.Through her interpreting for the Match-Making Session of the4th Sino-European Agriculture Seminar on September27th,2013, the author, as an interpreter, gained a better understanding of the big difference between in-class interpreting and field interpreting and fully recognized her weaknesses in the interpreting process in terms of encyclopedic knowledge, listening skills, accumulation of terminologies and sentence structure, all of which were caused by inefficient long-term, short-term and temporary preparation before interpreting.Therefore, by choosing several typical cases, the author intends to analyze the relevance between preparation and the two major problems in the cases, such as omission and misinterpretation of information and inconformity to expressions, so as to prove the significance of the preparation in consecutive interpreting. This report also gives some suggestions on preparation, from which other interpreters may more or less draw inspiration.
