Abstract


Due to the gradual expansion of the scale of higher education, the public pay moreattention to the teaching quality. In April2012, according to the announcement of theministry of education, there are2198national ordinary university. In June2013, thereare2198ordinary institutions of higher learning, and there are1908regularinstitutions of higher education in China, about41more than last year. In2007, thesize of all kinds of higher education is more than27million, the higher educationenrollment and the scale of students is increasing. The expansion of higher educationand the increasing of students’ number not only increase the burden of teachers’teaching, but also affect the teaching quality. Teaching is an activity of cultivatingpeople, it is the fit of the soul and the spirit of communication between teachers andstudents, and the aim of education is to promote the development of students to theperfection of human nature and personality, and the ultimate goal of teaching is topromote the all-round development of human beings. Freedom of teachers’ teaching isthe soul of higher education, and directly affects the quality of personnel training.However, there are many factors effecting teachers’ teaching freedom, and don’t haveany protection, most of the teachers is in overload condition, teachers in teachingwork time reduced correspondingly.This article aims to cause attention to teachers’ teaching rights and interests fromthe analysis of the meaning of university teachers’ teaching freedom, and it isimportant for us to learn that the improvement of teaching quality depends on theefforts of the teachers. In this paper, there are series of measures be taken to protectthe freedom of teachers’ teaching, so as to promote the development of educationundertakings. University teaching freedom is limited which is indispensable toteachers’ responsibility.This paper is divided into five main parts:The first chapter: the paper explains the purpose and significance of this research,and review the related issues of teaching freedom (such as the connotation of theteaching, teaching content, the limits of freedom and the freedom of the universityteachers’ teaching implementation, etc.), on this basis of it, try to determine theresearch ideas and methods.The second chapter: the historical tradition of freedom and teaching part. Itmainly describes the history of free thought of our country and foreign teaching, and the history of the development of freedom. On the basis of it, clear the necessity ofteaching.The third chapter: the basic definition of the concept. Elaborating the connotationand value of freedom and teaching freedom, then define the limits of freedom ofteaching.The fourth chapter: Analyzing the influencing factors of university teachers’teaching freedom, mainly from two aspects: internal factors and external factors.The fifth chapter: Putting forward the measures to promote the freedom of theuniversity teachers’ teaching. It mainly includes the construction of schoolmanagement, social culture and legal system to guarantee the freedom of teachers’teaching. Just from the teachers themselves, when teachers have free teaching, theyshould maintain strict requirements, and clear its own teaching responsibilities.The conclusion part summarizes the main content and purpose of this paper,reflects on the deficiency of it, and puts forward the development direction of thisproblem.
