With the rapid popularization of various wireless applications, demands for efficient use ofspectrum resources is becoming more and more pervasive. Cognitive radio technology is a kind ofintelligent wireless technology which can greatly improve the spectrum efficiency. It is moreflexible, intelligent and reconfigurable when compared to other radio technology. The tunable RFpower amplifier (PA) is the most expensive and energy-consuming key components in cognitiveradio systems, moreover, it is the key to achieve energy saving for the cognitive radiocommunication system, build green communications and realize long-term sustainabledevelopment. Solving the key technical problems of RF power amplifier in cognitive radio systemslays a solid foundation for the green cognitive radio communication system to realize the real highspectrum efficiency and power efficiency.In this thesis, based on the theory of the broadband power amplifier and impedance matchingnetwork, in-depth study of tuning mechanism and theory for tunable RF power amplifier have beenresearched, tuning mechanism, implementation, tuning characteristics of the tunable matchingnetwork have also been analyzed. The main contents include:On basis of UC/OS-II system in ARM platform ADuC7026(ARM7), an intelligent gatevoltage control system is mainly proposed in accordance with changes of temperature and draincurrent to real-time compensate for linear deterioration of LDMOS PA at different temperature.Using tunable matching network theory of asymmetric bilateral coupled microstriptransmission line, the tunable input and output networks at UHF have been designed and optimized,The results prove that in-band gain flatness (S21) within0.5dB and return loss (S11) below-20dB.Concerning the instantaneous junction capacitance of varactor swings with RF signal’s voltageshifts, the modeling of varactor and bias circuit simulation have been done according to thedynamic tuning mechanism and loading effect of varactors, a new structure is introduced toovercome RF loading effect in the varactor-tuned circuit.Finally, the thesis presents the structure of a based intelligently tunable Class AB RF PA.According to the structure, a tunable PA is designed. The measurement results illustrated that thePA can be tuned to any frequency point from470MHz to860MHz.
