Urban infrastructure plays not only a complementary role of other factors, butalso can reduce other inputs, change the extensive elements of alternative investmentgrowth factors. Economic development is a process of resource allocationoptimization. Under the conditions of limited land resources, the rational developmentof urban infrastructure is the optimal allocation of scarce resources, a way to improvethe efficiency in the use of all kinds of resources. This article is first to comment onthe effect of urban infrastructure construction of urban land productivity, and providesthe inspiration for China to improve the quality of urban development, to achieve thesustainable development of urban land and economic. This paper constructs urban land productivity model and the growth equationbased on the principle of agglomeration economies, uses the data of286prefecture-orhigher level cities for the2003-2009period to estimate the fixed effects model, andtests the relations between urban infrastructure and land productivity and the regionaldisparities. The results indicate that the urban infrastructure capital stock is animportant contributor to urban land productivity and its growth and that thecontribution of urban street is more significant than those of others. The impact ofinfrastructure on urban land productivity differs across the eastern, central, andwestern regions. Increase in infrastructure capital stock has raised urban landproductivity in the western cities, but has no effect in the eastern and central regions, while urban street density has the largest impact on the land productivity in thecentral region, the second largest impact in the western region, and no significanteffect in the eastern region. As a result, each region should improve itsinfrastructure selectively in accordance with own existing infrastructure andmarginal return, thereby conserve urban land and promote growth.
