With the country’s economic growth, infrastructure implementation and urban construction, the implementation of agricultural modernization strong demand for motor transport, the development of China’s auto market is huge, and thus offer enormous opportunities for development to the engine companies. However, the international automotive and engine manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz, Iveco, Cummins, Deutz Cili with its technology and brand to increase its investment in China, the strength of domestic auto plants and engine enterprises have extended upstream and downstream industries, so that our cars and engine market competition is changing continuously, and the competition is fierce. The research of YN company’s competitive strategy has an important significance for recognize the automotive and engine industry trends and identify the competitive situation within the industry.This paper research YN company’s competitive strategy, which represent our country small bore multi-cylinder engine enterprise, through the use of industry structure and resource capacity theory of competitive strategy, analysis of the opportunities for the environment, competitors,competitive situation and internal strengths and weaknesses to discover the problems of YN company’s competitive strategy and provide suggestions for improvement,for the YN company’s competitive strategy adjusted to provide a reference, has a strongly practical significance. The main contents and structure is as follows:The first chapter is a theory of competitive strategy elaboration. This chapter through strategy, strategic management level, the two major competitive strategy theory to explain the main use of this theory. Focus on the industry structure analysis theory and resource capabilities theory, the comprehensive put forward to study YN company’s competitive strategy by two theory.The second chapter is the analysis of the strategic environment to YN company. Through the macroeconomic analysis, automotive industry analysis, market analysis and analysis of policies and regulations to clarify the company’s competitive strategy to research YN specific environment.The third chapter is on the research of engine industry competition pattern and development trend. Through a competitive situation analysis, rival future planning and domestic international trends analysis to clarify the next three to five years YN company must quickly increase market share and seek to a leading strategic partner is a priority. The use of the standard analysis and benchmarking enterprise Yuchai from the development process, industry position, all market segments, the various market segments competitive strategy, brand and its success factor to analyse the benchmarking with YN, through benchmarking analysis concluded YN companies and Yuchai gaps and needs for learning content to competitors. The fourth chapter is analyzing the ability of the YN company’s resources.The fifth chapter is the SWOT analysis of the YN company. Through SWOT analysis to identify the opportunities, challenges, advantages and disadvantages. By analyzing YN companies compete in the future:from the external environment opportunities and adjustment coexist, but the opportunities outweigh the challenges; from the internal environment although the YN company has certain advantages, but the disadvantages are also emerging.The sixth chapter is YN company competitive strategy analysis. First is introduction of YN’s development strategy and target. Then base on opportunities and challenges of environmental, competitive situation and the company’s advantageand weaknesses to analyze the competitive strategy issues. Finally deliver specific strategy which ensure the success through the adaptability of environment and the realizable of resource, of course format the continuously competitive advantage.The seventh chapter is the conclusion and shortage.This paper analyzed factors of competitive strategy integrated with the industrial structure model and resource capabilities, and offer suggestions to competitive strategy issues, solutions which combine theory with practice, offer reference for enterprise’s competitive and advantage.
