Abstract


As depositors have power that is "Voluntary deposits, free withdrawals", as depositors, policy-holders also have the power that is "Voluntary insurance, free surrender ". However, Surrender will cause big impact both insurer and insured. In insurer’s opinion, surrender will affect the balance of structure of capital and liability, solvency of insurance companies, the expected profit, especially reputation risk. For policy-holders, surrender will lose its insurance function and affect the applicant’s long-term financial planning. insurance regulatory commission issued a determine against five kinds of risks and the most primary risk is surrender risk in the national insurance regulation conference in2012. The study about surrender risk has the certain practical significance.This paper have five chapters:Chapter1:introduction. This chapter introduce the background and significance of research, the related literature reviews about at home and abroad and structure of this paper;Chapter2:current situation of surrender in insurance market. This chapter firstly introduce the calculation method of surrender rate, then introduce the general characteristics of the current surrender situation, difference of surrender in Chinese-funds life insurance companies and foreign-funds life insurance companies and industry characteristics about surrender.Chapter3:the dangers of life insurance surrender. This chapter analyze harm of life insurance surrender from three aspects, The three aspects respectively are life insurance companies, policy-holders and financial system.Chapter4:the causes of life insurance companies. This chapter analyze causes of life insurance surrender from four aspects. The four aspects respectively are market environment, life insurance industry, life insurance companies and policy-holders.Chapter5:the suggestions of life insurance surrender. This chapter proposes eight suggestions through analyzing causes of life insurance surrender. These suggestions respectively is:change management idea, improve the quality of customer service, increase the insurance publicity, strengthening the construction of insurance agent system, improve the level of asset management, optimize the structure of types of insurance, strengthen the construction of credit system, strengthen information management.This paper uses qualitative and quantitative analysis method and literature analysis method on research methods. This paper emphasis on practicability. this paper concludes that life insurance companies and life insurance industry play an important role in solving surrender problem through analyzing causes of life insurance surrender. Finally, this paper proposes some suggestions about solving surrender problems and hope these suggestions can make valuable exploration in the development of life industry. However, this paper lacks empirical research, which affects the strength of the study.
