Empirical Analysis on Technical Spillovers from FDI on Domestic Firms of Four Cities in Northeast of China

Abstract


With the rapid development of economic globalization , foreign direct investment plays an increasingly important role , in particular the impact of the economic growth in developing countries is growing . Since the 1990s , China has become an important host country for foreign direct investment . With the improvement of the investment environment in the WTO accession , foreign direct investment in China presents a continuing growth trend . A large number of foreign investment in our country , distributed in various regions of the country , whether real technology spillovers expected to promote economic development , has become a concern . This article select research area for the northeast region , selected four representative cities ( Shenyang , Dalian , Changchun and Harbin ) as the object of study designed to examine the city -owned industrial sector FDI Technology Spillover Effect empirical test method used and the main factors affecting the spillovers threshold regression . In order to clarify the above problem , this paper first analysis of the literature review , to make the FDI spillover judgment there is a threshold effect , and then take advantage of China from 2000 to 2007 , the data of the four city -owned industrial sector , the application of the DEA analysis software calculates the TFP malmquist index . Next, using the calculated level of total factor productivity , three areas of research activities and the utilization of FDI data application the Eviews software regression , verify that the area to the existence of the technology spillover . The test results show that FDI Technology Spillover Effect : In the four cities , there was no significant positive spillover , and even cities significantly negative effect . These affect FDI spillover effects of the absorption capacity of the factors in front of empirical testing of basis focused investigated for domestic industrial sector 's absorptive capacity indicators that the regional economic development of the degree , the regional economy and opening up the degree of regional human capital status and regional economic structure , threshold regression . Finally concluded , and combined with the Northeast regional status quo, give appropriate recommendations .
