Abstract


Contemporary musicians aren’t content with how performance style of compositions is interpreted in modern times, rather they see all modern compositions apply a romantic style without exceptions, lack of essence and distinction.Due to different context of different times, compositions made in Baroque times and even earlier stage differ significantly from those of modern times in such respects as musical instrument, notation, and performance style and so on. Real essence of compositions will not be well interpreted if adopting modern performance style and expression.That’s why composers who are in support of renaissance of classical music started from the times when they were written and studied them with regard to instrument development, conventions of performance and musical aesthetics then. Using archaized instrument like harpsichord, Baroque Violin and French horn with no piston and so on, they play the music according to the playing conventions, execution and features of instruments at that time. Returning to nature, music is restored to its original form to be more close to the history. This activity is called renaissance of classical music, authentic performance, early musical renaissance and performance of history and the like.The passage gives a detailed introduction of historic development, cause for initiation, performance feature and typical musicians. With researches above, it’s aimed to arouse people’s attention to the musical trend about renaissance of classical music and enlarge their knowledge about styles and features of music playing.
