Abstract


Animation has had a history of more than one century since it came into being. As a special form of visual art, animation has both cultural and recreational functions. For one thing, a good animation can convey the spiritual essence of subject matter, integrating ideas or philosophy in the art, molding people’s sentiments, thus has a function of social and cultural values. For another, by using such artistic practices as the roles of creative image, special artistic exaggeration, and rich imagination, a good animation can also have a recreational to create a cheerful atmosphere to achieve a relaxed and funny effect, so that people can enjoy the aesthetics of animated charm to release pressure.With the impact of foreign animations, there is a common problem in current Chinese animations, which lacks of national character and ideology, leading to the serious lose of national identity and depression of Chinese animation market. Chinese animation is facing with severe challenges.Recalling the history of development of Chinese animation, Chinese animation arts have gone through the brilliant achievements in the 1950s-60s and 1980s of the last century, and they created a unique aesthetic style. Focusing on the study of the application of national cultural elements in Chinese animations, the thesis tries to extract various national cultural elements of some excellent Chinese animations, and explores the way in which contemporary Chinese animations achieve nationalization and localization through the method of combining analysis and argument.
