Abstract

The main purpose of teaching Chinese is to improve the learner’s communication ability by using this language, and oral communicative competence should be the most evident one. To improve oral ability is a skill depends on the sufficient and effective practice, therefore the teaching target realization or not is definitely decided by the design and arrangement of the practice in different teaching materials, among this, intermediate level, as an indispensable connecting link period, should be attached more importance.However, the research and study of the oral practice in current used didactical materials is obviously neither complete nor systematic. By this paper, six different intermediate Chinese oral didactical materials are well selected as objects, analyzed by methodology of statistics and comparisons, meanwhile integrating by teaching theory and the author’s class experiences, and as a result it shows us a new conception and cultivating suggestion in terms of Chinese oral teaching in this level. The study is mainly including the following three parts:1. After consulting the quantity of different subject of practices composed in this six didactical materials, such as phonetics, phrases, sentences, dialog and paragraphs, it makes a conclusion regarding the distribution and tendency that the total practice quantity passed a continual increase from 90 decade to beginning of 21 century, and is facing on the reducing period; the high intensive concentrated practice in single practice model is being changed by multiple practice style; Pay more attention on phrases sentences and dialog practice instead of phonetics work; paragraphs practice is generally ignored.2. After consulting the practice model of the different subject, such as phonetics, phrases, sentences, dialog and paragraphs, it makes a conclusion that the practice model in each book varies almost directly with its quantity; the paragraphs practice show a character of lack of quantity but abundant of variety. It also classify all the practices by their frequency, and from the point of view of the pedagogy ,try to discuss their relative vantage and disadvantage in order to put the orientation into practice.3. Based on the above analysis and study, combined by the theory of pedagogy, put several proposals in four different field respectively, regarding principle of practice compiling, practice quantity, practice arrangement and teacher reference/student book, and expect that could assist the future didactical materials author.
