Abstract


Real estate industry is related to people’s livelihood and important to the national economy. Now, it has become a hot topic in our country. And the Top Management Team(TMT) of the industry is responsible to make strategies and firm performance. Which kind of TMT is needed in the industry also becomes a hot topic. So many researchers study the relationship between TMT’s background characteristics and firm performance. This paper studies the relationship between TMT’s background characteristics and firm performance on the basis of real estate firms listed in Shanghai and Shenzhen, in hopes of providing some suggestions about introducing which kind of TMT.This paper is based on TMT’s theories, and takes age, gender, education, major, tenure and experience as the variables of TMT’s background characteristics, while the salary and firm size as the control variable. Firstly, we introduce its basic theories, and analyzes the current situation of the real estate firms and its TMT, then propose the hypothesizes. Secondly, we test the hypothesizes to find the relationship between TMT’s background characteristics and firm performance. Thirdly, we group the 124 firms into 3 teams by the ROE and regress each team to find what influence the firm’s performance. Finally, we propose the suggestions which kind of TMT should the industry introduce and how to develop the real estate industry.
