Abstract

Succession is one of important factors that effect the dynamics of forest ecosystems carbon pool, How response the forest ecosystems carbon pool to succession? It is of great significance to study it for forest carbon balance budget and carbon management in different regions.Evergreen broad-leaved forest chronosequence, consisting of 15-,47 and 110-year-old three different succession stages, located on the same sites at Wanmulin natural reserve, Jianou, Fujian Province, was chosen for the purpose on give service to assess the influence of the succession to forest carbon and provide evidence for increasing carbon sink of subtropical forest ecosystem. The results showed that the litter production have seasonal variation (p<0.05) and increased with the progression of succession, leaf fall was the major component and the proportion more than 71.34%. With the progression of succession, fine root biomass increased significantly (p<0.05), but the different diameter classes fine root has different model, fine root biomass has more than 70.56% in 0~20cm layers and decreased with soil layer depth. With progression of succession, the storage of SOC, MBC, DOC, POC and LFOC all after reducing elevated and decreased with soil depth (p<0.05), it has significant correlation(p<0.01) between ASOC and SOC. Besides season dynamic discord in different succession stages, MBC and DOC has significant seasonal change (p<0.05), the value of ASOC/SOC in latter stages higher than earlier stages (p<0.05). Soil respiration has seasonal variation (p<0.05) and increased with the progression of succession, soil temperature and moisture content were two important factors to soil respiration, soil temperature was major one and contribution 69.0%. The value of Q10 was 1.87~2.64 and the latter stages smaller than earlier stages. Except SOC and POC influence weakly, littler production, living fine root and MBC, DOC, LFOC in 0~20cm soil layer all promote the trend of soil respiration with the progression of succession.
